Guided Prayer Resource

What is the Guided Prayer Resource?

The Money Makes Change Guided Prayer Resource takes you through a series of reflections to connect your faith and your finances for a fairer world.

It is inspired by the five-step Daily Examen from the Ignatian tradition as developed by St Ignatius. The Examen is a prayer discipline involving reflection on the events in our lives, to detect God’s presence and discern God’s direction for us

You can follow the guided prayer via video here or adjacent and you can find the accompanying notes here or below.

What inspired the Guided Prayer Resource?

Sometimes we need to be still before we act. Sometimes a time of silence and prayer can help shine a light on where and how we need to act.

We hope this resource will be useful as an occasional prayer practice for individuals and groups engaging with the Money Makes Change programme. It can be used on its own or as part of our wider programme.

Christians, and many others, recognise that ‘our’ resources are primarily God’s resources of which we are stewards. We are called to use these resources wisely, and to share them with others, seeking to serve our neighbours and to see all Creation flourish.

There may be ways in which our financial choices are harming the world around us. Therefore, it makes sense to take time to regularly and prayerfully review the decisions we make around money.

With Grateful Thanks

Guiding you through the reflection is Colin Darling, ECCR’s West Midlands Development Manager from April 2018 – May 2020. Grateful thanks to Colin whose experience and prayerfulness has informed and shaped this guided prayer resource.

We’d love to hear your feedback on this resource and whether it has been helpful. Please do get in touch and let us know by emailing info@eccr.org.uk.
